LOST

was I not grateful enough for you
sorry, my energy is dwindling
maybe you were too far from the shore
to see the bonfire I was kindling
I threw in sticks and logs everyday
hoping the tide would pull you this way
it was the product of my hope
you; the gift of my desire
I wasn't around enough
I thought you were too great for help
(or would rather reject me)
I guess my back was turned when you noticed
I guess it seemed like I was doing okay,
and there was only one seat at the bonfire
perhaps you thought that seat was for me?
if I could turn back time,
I would star jump for hours,
cause I should've signalled something
something that said 'I need you like you need me'
Cause I need you, more than you need me?
P.S. You would've sat in that seat
I in the sand or on some fallen palm tree
