LIFE UPDATE (NEW COLUMN)

APRIL FAVOURITES

Honestly, I have not been consistent at all... and for that I apologize (but to be fair I don't have any viewers yet so i'm doing this for myself tehe).

But anyways, we are back on the grind. Three mental breakdowns, a couple vitamins and two all nighters later, a girl is happier and healthier (or at least trying her best to get there). Currently, it's exam season at my university (which is obviously very stressful) and it's very busy. I've just started at my restaurant job, I've been having orientations this week, and have some more training coming up soon. I'm really excited to get some dough to pay for my future (and my clothes obviously; food too).

Anyways, I though it would be really cool if I tried a monthly faves column where I share some of my favourite things at the moment, cool hobbies I've tried out, trends I like, trends I dislike, food, fashion, social media stuff and more.

So without further ado, here are my current April faves.

MUSIC

This one is gonna have a few actually cuz I have been feeling down lately, and what do we do when we are depressed.... we turn to art!!

Waiting in the Wings - Eden Espinosa

https://open.spotify.com/track/1SF9AmnKcznSdWBvhYe0ty?si=0982b29d255a4eca

Hey! Hey! Hey! I swear I'm actually eighteen guys!!!

Okay, but jokes aside, this song is truly beautiful. I'm gonna list/recommend a lot of cool songs on here, but this song isn't cool like the others. It's just so emotional. Just in case you didn't get the memo from my wildly amazingly spectacularly and out of this world joke italisized above; this song comes from an animated television show called 'Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure' (yes, it is a spinoff of 'Tangled' the disney movie). This song is sung by one of the main characters, Cassandra (voiced by Eden Espinosa), as she expresses the pain of feeling looked over and pushed aside continuosly throughout her life, despite all her hard work, determination, and all the 'passion and the drive' she puts into being the best at what she does. I actually cried hard to this song, cus dang, I relate. Anyways, its a good song to cry to - I put it on my 'I like my emotions' playlist.

Favourite lyrics: I show up with heart a blazing; Ready to achieve amazing things; But I'm left waiting in the wings

Measure of a Man (feat. Central Cee) - FKA Twigs

https://open.spotify.com/track/3gjKJ0RjjEddIJW0NDDZ1r?si=71fd801a30a84ed0

I recently got into FKA Twigs music after hearing 'Jealousy' randomly after binge listening to Rina Sawayama (you're coming up later bestie) for an hour, and was pleasently surprised. FKA Twigs has this unique and beautiful sound to her voice and music. This song is so true, in that 'the measure of a hero is truly the measure of the man'/woman for sure (although her meaning is a little deeper than what I'm talking about). This is just a beautiful and mystical vibe- I love it.

Favourite lyrics: If when the morning comes you're not with me (destiny); I know that you'll return with destiny / It's the manners that make a man; But the hammers that break the man

June Gloom - Allie X

https://open.spotify.com/track/5XjVP7MAfPf0jnfoTu5BCP?si=0813bedaa4114657

I'm so happy I found this song. I wish I found it sooner, cuz this song is very perfect for Phase 1 pandemic me; a sixteen year-old girl finishing up her 11th year of school and has no idea who and what she wants to be. This song really gives me those vibes; I get oddly nostalgic listening to this song.

Favourite Lyrics: Free time for memories (free time); Places I'll never be (I'll be); People I'll never see; I know why

Enemy (with JID) - from the series Arcane League of Legends)

https://open.spotify.com/track/1r9xUipOqoNwggBpENDsvJ?si=42e887df91a74398

Though I have yet to finish this series, this song is too good to not put on here (though I have so many more I wish to introduce to y'all). The intro is just so killer- like I feel like I'm in the Arcane universe slumming it out with Vi and the gang. And the vocals and bars are just- chef's kiss.

Favourite lyrics: I stack it in my mind and I'm waiting for the time; When I show you what it's like to be words spit in a mic

Who's Gonna Save U Now? - Rina Sawayama

https://open.spotify.com/track/2Mfu7R0ZXJ5cNCm85zkKWZ?si=82406a69306a4936

Ugh the whole Sawayama album is a blessing of it's own accord, but this song just transports me to a whole other mental state. I love this song! I love this song! I love this song! The rock and roll-popstar-gospel choir vibes of this song is just amazing. And that guitar solo- ugh too good! Her voice too! I love lots of Rina's music, but what I love most about this song is the beautifully loose but organized structure of that has the right amount of chaos and order (her vocals are killer bro)!

Favourite Lyrics: I needed a resolution; Girl talking a revolution; (Hope you learn to live without her); You wasted my time, don't need it

Sincerity is Scary - The 1975

https://open.spotify.com/track/6HguG9HRb1Ke1bhihfE4m8?si=ed1f0a89cf1c44a1

This song is very relatable, and the vibes are immaculate. I like how upbeat but also emotional it is. I also like how you can kinda hear the accent in Matthew Healy's voice- his voice is beautful. I'm in love with the choir and trumpet in the background- I love a good gospel choir vibe.

Favourite Lyrics: Culture is to blame; You try and mask your pain in the most postmodern way; You lack substance when you say; Something like, "Oh, what a shame"; It's just a self-referential way; That stops you having to be human

L'Amour, Les Baguettes, Paris - Stella Jung

https://open.spotify.com/track/2g6FVCA4sQZOv9LXIABsgr?si=046945b372ab4534

Magical, Radiant, just everything beautiful about a nostalgic romance/love song. I love the piano, her voice, the lyrics- tout!

Favourite Lyrics: Tu seras toujours une partie de moi/ Pour moi, ce n'est pas juste une ville; C'est l'histoire de nos passions juvéniles

Pinterest (As always)

Do I even need to explain... I'm obsessed. Every time I go on pinterest I reimagine my future a little bit that by the end of the week I don't dream of being a retied piano teacher living in that creepy old house in the suburbs like in jumanji, but a supermodel travelling the world, or undercover spy who lives in France and pretends like she doesn;t undderstand french but is really the best plyglot in the owlrd. Any way, I love pinterest. Check out my 'My dream board'.
