Hornevian Triad:

Compliant: doing the right thing (super-ego) to maintain an image of goodness

General Description:

Enneagram point 2 is an image type concerned with the maintenance of an image of goodness  (the giver) so as to receive 'love'. Their style of giving love (embodying 'the helper') is often immoveabale and is consistently non-adaptable. They have a place in your life that they have defined themselves, and intend to assert that love so they can maintain that image. All the image/shame types have a very difficult time being vulnerable emotionally, and enneagram 2 types spend their time rejecting every other way of existing emotionally compared to their own state of giving. Twos can be really sweet, self-effacing, self-sacrificing, altruistic types but they can also be pushy, over-bearing and boundary crossing in the ssme breath. Naturally- they can be very good, and loving people... but one must understand that they are doing thier best to maintain their image of being loving and all things good. All the image types are coonstantly managing their image and can risk coming off fake or over polished/stubborn.  It is difficult for the twos to recognize where they have done sometning wrong or bad, because they can only see the intention behind their image. (Even reading somethings like this can bruise a two's ego).

Twos are a rejectiom type, which means that they (like the other rejection types cut off parts of themselves and can only show up in a relationship or generally in the world in the one way they want to show up. All rejection types show up with some type of offering to any situation, so 2s with an image of rejection hjave the image of bringing an offering to the table and that's all that they bring. They aqre not easily moveable people, 2s have a very penetrating, and getting under your skin feeling that can feel like too much to most of the world as they are so identified in their image of rejection and not adapting that it can feel that they're spoon feeding their love to you, but the spoon is actualy an IV tube and your not seated on a couch with them in the loving room, but actually a hospital bed etc. (I'm half joking). 2s at their best can be the most giving and loving people willing to do the right thing in any situation, first to give a helping hand, and guiding lost souls, healing someone back to health without being asked. 2s at their worst can be manipulative, overbearing and so lost in maintaining their image and defending their actions supposedly borne from 'love' whilst the others around them struggle with not being able to outright reject or vindicatwe the two.

(Sidenote: I will explain what sp/so/sx all mean in a future article; I find that people's understanding of the subtype components (different types of e1s include sp1, sx1, and so1, they are all called subtypes) can confuse people and resort to stereotypes of each type)
